Zuleika Bravo
Director, Graduate Student Resource Center
she, her, ella

Zuleika Bravo oversees the day-to-day operations of the Graduate Student Resource Center and serves as the lead staff person advising the graduate student planning committees for Graduate Student Orientation and the Graduate Student Program Committee.

Zuleika began her educational career when she quit her property management job and enrolled in Antelope Valley Community College in 2015, while raising her eight-month-old child. Zuleika ultimately transferred to UCLA, where she earned her B.A. in Political Science and Latin American Studies in 2020 and an M.A. in Higher Education & Organization Change from GSE&IS in 2021, where she wrote her thesis, “Bear Witness to our Struggle”: A Critical Review of Research on Undergraduate Mother Scholars of Color in Higher Education. While attending UCLA, Zuleika worked directly with all the student populations of the BRC; but primarily served in an advocacy role supporting parenting students and students with dependents. This advocacy ultimately allowed Zuleika to lead the task force that assisted with securing priority enrollment for undergraduate parenting students.

Zuleika continued to serve in a variety of advocacy roles as the Transfer Student Representative on the UCLA Undergraduate Students Association Council, as well as the Basic Needs Student Officer for the UC Student Association, where she worked with the UC-Wide Basic Needs Committee to expand the definition of Basic Needs to include items such as childcare. Zuleika also served as a Graduate Student Committee Member on the UCLA Student Fees Advisory Committee (SFAC). Each of these roles further cemented Zuleika’s passion for ethical student advocacy and supporting students through their own higher education journeys. Zuleika is thrilled to be able to continue working in a role that supports student advocacy for the graduate and professional student community.
