Sam Nahidi is the Director of the Dashew Center for International Students and Scholars. His extensive personal experience with migration challenges across multiple countries since his teenage years has provided him with a deep understanding of the unique needs and challenges faced by international students and scholars. With three decades of experience in international higher education, he has made significant strides at the Dashew Center since joining in 2008. He has been instrumental in streamlining and expanding the center's operations, significantly improving service delivery for its constituents.

Dedicated to advocacy for the international student and scholar community, he is actively involved in various committees that focus on the immigration topic. His recent roles include serving on the UCLA Advisory Council on Immigration Policy, the Committee on International Education, and the Association of American Universities. Sam encourages his team members to design and implement their professional development plans to further advance the skills and technical expertise needed to serve our international community.

Sam holds a bachelor’s degree in business and marketing from Sweden. Outside of his professional life, he enjoys traveling and spending time outdoors with his wife and son. Sam speaks four languages including Farsi and Turkish.
