The units within Campus Life focus on a student-centered philosophy that emphasizes the quality of student contact and teamwork among the community.

Michael (Mick) Deluca is the Associate Vice Chancellor, Campus Life in his 35th year at UCLA. In this role Mick oversees a campus cluster of Student Affairs departments to include the Community Programs Office (CPO), Student Organizations, Leadership, and Engagement (SOLE), UCLA Recreation, Sports Venues and Events, UCLA Veteran Resource Center, Respondent Services, Fraternity and Sorority Life, LGBTQ Campus Resource Center, Commuter Services and Bruin Hub, Volunteer Center, UCLA Spirit Squad, Student Affairs Monitors (SAMs and time, place, and manner, and Corporate Partnerships and Relations. The scope of these areas includes a wide variety of campus and student activities including student leadership programs, over 1400 student organizations, student events and event planning, community programs to include student initiated access, campus retention, and student initiated service projects, 6 Greek Councils with 66 fraternity and sorority chapters, a wide variety of recreation programs and services including instructional programs, summer camps, youth and family programs, competitive and intramural sports, 54 club teams, outdoor adventures, fitness and wellness, cultural arts, adaptive sports, and open recreation, 22 recreational and multi-use sport facilities including the John Wooden Center and Pauley Pavilion, event operations and management and large scale campus events . He is currently on the steering committee of the UCLA Health Campus Initiative, UCLA Sustainability Committee, and University representative to the University Religious Conference, Police Chief Advisory Council, UCLA Emergency Operations Center, CFCC, and was a university lead for the 2015 World Special Olympics Games Los Angeles, and is a member of the UCLA Steering Committee for the LA2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games Athlete’s Village at UCLA.

In his time at UCLA, Mick has been in the role of Associate Director, and then Director, Department of Cultural and Recreational Affairs, and Executive Director, Recreation and Campus Life. Prior to working at UCLA, Mick also worked at the University of Wyoming and the University of Denver and received degrees from Colorado Mesa University and the University of Denver.
