Wishing You Well During Finals and Spring Break
March 17, 2026

Dear Bruins:

As winter quarter ends, I want to wish you the very best during finals week. This is an important moment in the academic year, and I hope you can take pride in the work you’ve put in over the past ten weeks.

It’s remarkable how quickly the year is moving. For some of you, spring quarter will mark the final stretch of your first year at UCLA. Others are preparing for exciting opportunities this summer, such as internships, research projects, travel, or service experiences. And for many Bruins across our undergraduate, graduate and professional programs, the coming months will lead to commencement and the celebration of your UCLA journey.

Spring break offers a well-deserved opportunity to rest and recharge. Whether you are staying in Los Angeles, returning home or traveling somewhere new, I hope the break is meaningful and rejuvenating.

As always, the safety and wellbeing of our Bruin community remain a top priority. If you will be traveling or leaving campus, please keep the following reminders in mind:

  • Stay aware when traveling. Be mindful of your surroundings, particularly when visiting unfamiliar locations.
  • Plan ahead for travel. Global events and other factors can occasionally affect travel schedules, so allow extra time and flexibility when making plans.
  • Secure your belongings before leaving campus. Lock doors and windows and take home any valuables or items you will not need while away.
  • Remember campus remains open. While UCLA will be quieter during spring break, the campus is open and operational throughout the week, except for the César Chávez Day holiday.
  • Campus safety resources remain available. The UCLA Police Department and campus safety personnel remain fully engaged and responsive during the break.

For our international Bruins, the Dashew Center for International Students and Scholars has been in touch with you directly with additional information and support resources related to travel and documentation.

Thank you for the care you show for one another and for our community. I wish you focus and success during finals week, followed by a safe and restorative spring break.

Take good care, Bruins.

Warm regards,

Monroe Gorden Jr.
