UCLA’s Annual Volunteer Day is Sept. 30

Date: September 6, 2023
From: Monroe Gorden, Jr., J.D., Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs

Dear Bruin Community:

On Saturday, September 30, 2023 the UCLA Volunteer Center, in partnership with the Undergraduate Student Association Council Community Service Commission (CSC), will host the 15th Annual UCLA Volunteer Day, presented by the Wescom Foundation.

The UCLA Volunteer Center’s signature event, UCLA Volunteer Day, is a cornerstone of the UCLA experience. It is an annual day of service when UCLA students, faculty, staff, alumni, parents and community members volunteer at sites on campus and the greater Los Angeles area. Since its inception, UCLA Volunteer Day has logged 353,743 service hours, 54,291 student volunteers, 400 community partners, and has provided a value of $9.2 million service dollars to the Greater Los Angeles Community.

In addition to service projects with various non-profit organizations around the Greater Los Angeles Area, Volunteer Day will also provide project sites on the UCLA Campus that include serving at the Los Angeles National Cemetery, cleaning up Westwood, blood and platelet donations, and gardening at the Semel Healthy Campus Initiative Community Garden.

I am grateful that Chancellor Block is scheduled to attend in what will be his final Volunteer Day as UCLA’s chancellor, and on behalf of all Bruins, I thank him for the significant role he played in starting this campus tradition.

Registration for UCLA Volunteer Day 2023 is now open and sites will fill quickly. Sign up now to provide positive change through serving our communities.

Thank you and go Bruins!

Sincerely,

Monroe Gorden, Jr.
Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs
