If You Are Sick

If you have symptoms or know that you had close contact with someone confirmed to have COVID-19, you need to call the Ashe COVID-19 Hotline as soon as possible to speak with a medical professional at 310-206-6217. Lines are open seven days a week. Please stay home and isolate until you speak with a medical provider. Once you call the Ashe COVID-19 Hotline, a medical professional will explain your requirements for testing, quarantine, or isolation.

If you have urgent symptoms after hours, please call the 24/7 Nurseline at 310-825-4073, “Option 2” for advice and information from a registered nurse or visit the nearest emergency room.

Testing

COVID-19 testing is required for all students living in university housing or participating in on-site or hybrid classes (as well as for faculty, staff, or teaching assistants involved in teaching on site). Tests will be provided at no cost, and contact tracing protocols will be in place when anyone tests positive. Students will be contacted via email about testing dates and locations in September 2020.

Depending on your COVID-19 status, it’s possible that you might be asked to “quarantine” or “isolate.” The two words might sound similar, but they mean different things.

Quarantine

Quarantine is intended to keep someone who might have been exposed to COVID-19 away from others. This helps prevent the spread of disease that can occur before a person knows they are sick or if they are infected with the virus without feeling symptoms.

Isolation

Isolation is required for those individuals who have been diagnosed with or are likely to have COVID-19. Those individuals are required to isolate themselves within their home or another residence until they are no longer at risk of spreading COVID-19.

The Ashe Center is working closely with UCLA Housing and Residential Life to make sure that those individuals have a private space to stay during their required isolation. This applies to all students living on-campus and all other UCLA students where appropriate and necessary.

If you have any urgent questions, call the Ashe COVID-19 Hotline at 310-206-6217.
