Welcome Transfer Students!

Transfer Students

As transfer students, you play a special role in UCLA’s educational process.  Not only do you constitute nearly 40 percent of our annual graduating class, but you bring critical elements to our campus that enrich the overall UCLA experience.  In one key area, transfer students bring a diversity of backgrounds and experiences that might not otherwise be present in our student population.  “Non-traditional students” comprise a significant segment of the transfer student population, and backgrounds that can include age differences, marital and/or parental status, veteran status, and other characteristics create a richer experience for all of us.  Beyond this, transfer students are highly motivated and focused, a fact that can produce high quality academics.  But at the same time, this focus can also leave you feeling too pressed for time to explore any activities beyond your classes.

Surveys we have done and individuals we’ve talked with indicate that many of you come to UCLA feeling that the two years you’ll spend with us simply won’t provide enough time for anything besides academics.  Not true.  In fact, activities outside the classroom can provide some of the most powerful learning experiences you’ll encounter.  The best place to find out about this is the Bruin Resource Center.  The BRC has information about the whole range of programs and services that can support and enhance your experience on campus.  And while you’re getting to know the campus, please visit the True Bruin webpage.  We are very proud of our True Bruin program, and we feel it’s important to share these values and aspirations with every member of our campus community.

We invite you to explore the full range of Student Affairs programs and services through this website, and to take full advantage of these opportunities. Please know that we welcome your suggestions for improving our offerings.
