Welcome Graduate Students!

Graduate Students

Whether you have just arrived at UCLA or are veterans of our campus and its culture, we welcome you to a new year and the possibilities it brings. As graduate students, you are critical contributors to UCLA’s reputation for academic excellence.  Your success is our success, and we share your expectations and aspirations as a valued, contributing member of the University’s graduate community.

We remain steadfast in our commitment to support the students and faculty at the heart of our academic enterprise, as evidenced by the launching of the fund-raising initiative, Ensuring Academic Excellence. This initiative is designed to help UCLA attract and retain top students and faculty amid increasing competition. Among its specific goals are 250 graduate fellowships and scholarships in the UCLA College, and 125 graduate fellowships and scholarships in UCLA’s professional schools. Since individual fellowships and scholarships frequently support multiple graduate students, the initiative will benefit far more students than the total number of fellowships and scholarships.

As graduate students, you are already acquainted with the University culture, whether here at UCLA or at your undergraduate campus.  However, we also know that many graduate students are so involved with their academic work that they become somewhat isolated from the broad range of possibilities offered by our campus.  If this is the case for you, please pay a visit to the Graduate Student Resource Center.  The GSRC is a critical hub for activities, academic support services, and referrals, and, with other Student Affairs departments, can help you make the absolute best of your campus experience.

We encourage you to explore our programs and services through this website, and to take full advantage of these opportunities. We also hope that in the future you will “give back” by staying involved with UCLA and supporting the programs that have particular meaning for you.  And your assistance with suggestions for improving our programs and services will be most appreciated.
