The Center provides education
and support services to increase the access and retention
of UCLA students. Specifically, it assists students in overcoming
gender-based roadblocks to academic, personal, and professional
success. It also helps them to address gender related issues
affecting the campus climate, often around topics such as
self-esteem, relationships, communication, sexuality, body
image & health, and personal safety. The Center is a unique
student service which offers a broad range of programs, workshops,
and services to assist students including: |

Individual counseling and referrals
for women and men about relationships with self, family,
roommates, friends and the many others in student's
lives; |

 |
Skills-building workshops with
campus and community experts on topics such as assertion
training & enhancing self-confidence, communication
skills, building healthy relationships, developing
a healthy body image, stress reduction & balancing
multiple roles, and active participation in the classroom; |

|
 |
Re-entry and nontraditional student
services consisting of one-on-one counseling, workshops,
and support services for re-entry students (undergraduates
over 25 and graduates over 29) & nontraditional
students such as those with children; |

 |
Sexual violence prevention &
education. The Center offers free self-defense workshops
for UCLA students, staff, & faculty as well as
a variety of workshops designed to help increase personal
safety. Consultation with student groups and departments
is also available by request. Free and confidential
counseling is available to students, staff, or faculty
who have experienced sexual assault, sexual harassment,
battering, stalking, or other forms of sexual violence
in their lives or the lives of those close to them; |

The Student Nutrition (&
body image) Action Committee-SNAC: Learn about healthy
eating, fitness, and how to develop a healthy body
