The Arthur Ashe Student Health
& Wellness Center offers quality on-campus health care
and information services at little or no cost to registered
students, with three integrated areas designed to comprehensively
meet the health care needs of students.
Clinical Care by the professional staff provides
a broad range of services, both preventive and medical, and
referral services to professional care for services not available
in-house. Special clinical programs include:
 |
Primary
Care Clinics provide outpatient diagnosis, treatment,
and consultation for most general health care needs; |
| |
|
|
Specialty Clinics
provide specialized care in dermatology, orthopedics,
surgery, gynecology, internal medicine, ophthalmology,
urology, neurology, and other specializations; |
|
|
Women's Health Clinic
provides care for women's health needs and treatment
of gynecological problems; and |
|
|
Men's Health Clinic,
the newest health service and the first of its kind
in the UC System, treats genital and urinary problems,
both sexual and non-sexual in nature. |
Outreach Programs and Learning Opportunities
emphasize self-help in achieving and maintaining health. Student
Health Advocates offer peer care and educational counseling
for health concerns. Those programs help students to achieve
a heightened awareness of their own health needs, to assume
greater responsibility for their own health care, and to become
involved in the planning and delivery of all aspects of health
care.
Supplemental Health Insurance provides affordable
coverage for health care needs which cannot be obtained in
the Ashe Center, such as hospitalization, surgery, and some
specialized treatment.
The Student Health Advisory Committee, consisting
of eight undergraduate and graduate students appointed by
the student government associations, advises the department
on general policies and programs. |
