Need to find out your grades or order transcripts? Want to enroll in courses, schedule a medical appointment or check windsurfing class times? At UCLA, there’s no need to stand in line or make a phone call for these things anymore—just log on to a computer.

CLA is fortunate to have some of the best high-tech wizards around making it easier than ever to access a huge range of University services and programs via the Internet. The innovation, creativity and collaboration of technology staff across several Student Affairs units are contributing to increased efficiency, elimination of paper processes, and the highest possible level of student services. For everyone from prospective
and current students to alumni, the benefits are clear.

COMMUNICATING
WITH UCLA

Just a few years ago, prospective students going through the UC admissions process were chained to paper and snail-mail, sweating out the winter months in dread before finally receiving the thick or thin envelope. Now these same students can complete the entire process online — from application right through to admissions decision.

Pathways
UC’s Pathways Web site guides an applicant through the process step by step, ending in submission of the application with a click of the mouse. Of UC applicants seeking admission for fall 2005, 96 percent (or 100,138 people) submitted their applications online via Pathways.

DecisionWeb
Applicants at several UC campuses, including UCLA, are now able to log on to another Web site, DecisionWeb, to obtain their admissions status. Last Spring, 7,000 prospective student logged on to UCLA's DecisionWeb in the first hour. This streamlined process saves around $30,000 per year in mailing costs and $20,000 per year in publication costs, and saves applicants time and energy.

My FAO and URSA
OnLine

Newly admitted students can log on to MyFAO (My Financial Aid Office) to obtain a provisional financial aid award, then create a University Records System Access (URSA) OnLine account — an award-winning, one-stop student portal for just about everything, including admissions offer acceptance, student records access, and enrollment for classes, housing and parking.
