How to Refer a Student
How to refer a student for review by the Consultation & Response Team
Members of the campus community can refer a student to the Consultation & Response Team (CR Team) by contacting the Student Care Manager, Karen Minero, Ph.D. at 310-825-0628 or 310-825-3894 or kminero@saonet.ucla.edu. Dr. Minero will then present the student’s situation to the CR Team for discussion and options for assistance.
The CR Team is available to assist with a student in distress or in crisis. You do not need to struggle with a difficult situation alone. A referral to the CR Team would be warranted in situations where there are multiple concerns that may require a coordinated response from multiple campus departments such as; the Office of the Dean of Students, Counseling and Psychological Services and UCLA Police Department. If the referring party wishes to seek only consultation, then the distressed student may never even become aware that the CR Team was consulted. Otherwise, the Student Care Manager, upon direction from the referring party, can contact the student directly and provide assistance.
