UCLA Student Care Manager’s Role in Assisting Students
The Student Care Manager is a new position at UCLA designed to assist distressed students on campus. Each student’s situation is unique, so it can be difficult to determine how serious a situation might be and which referrals might be helpful. Talking with Karen Minero, Ph.D. is a good place to start. Dr. Minero is able to consult with students, faculty, teaching assistants, families and staff to determine a helpful approach or course of action. Please know that you are never alone in dealing with these situations. Dr. Minero meets weekly with the UCLA Consultation & Response Team to provide the most comprehensive assistance. Dr. Minero is also available to provide trainings to staff or faculty regarding how to identify and refer a distressed student.
Please feel free to contact Dr. Minero by calling 310-825-0628 or 310-825-3894 or by emailing kminero@saonet.ucla.edu.
